The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse, across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Vemyra, located outside Sollefteå, receives school-age boys up to 16 years old with psychosocial problems as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse.

Job Description

Do you want to help create a vital difference for vulnerable individuals? Then the position of treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your role is to motivate our youth/clients to adopt new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and security of our youth/clients, providing the foundation for daily life activities such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You also help maintain order and safety in the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building secure relationships and contribute to ensuring that our youth/clients receive the safety and security they need to break old habits. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job can often be demanding but is also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformations. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of people, a strong empathetic ability, and the capacity to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are willing to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You should also have:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education that corresponds to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant field. Exceptions to the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education can be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).
  • A valid driver's license (B).
  • Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., Correctional Officer.
  • Security guard training.
  • Education in health and social care.
  • Experience working with our target group of young boys.
